What is Telos?
Telos can be described as an ultimate purpose or destination. In a strict sense, it is an end goal. However, like any goal setting process, a persons ultimate Telos may have many intermediate goals along the way, a kind of subordinate Telos. These subordinate Telos’ bridge the gap from your starting point to your destination. As opposed to a goal, a Telos is supported by a sound philosophy. The Teleologic philosophy used by the Ancient Greeks, incorporated a very well rounded training regimen. The Ancient Greeks believed that education, philosophy and physical training were all equally important. Health and Fitness is not simply achieved through physical training, it takes a well rounded lifestyle to achieve great mental, emotional and physical health. I believe that teaching my clients about more than just proper exercise technique is essential in getting the most out of the health and fitness of my clients. I cannot teach a client about spirituality, but I can help a client learn how to be more kinesthetically aware of their body and how it allows them to move better. I cannot teach a client what they can learn at a school, but I can educate my clients about ergonomics, ways to overcome time challenges and what kinds of exercises are the most effective for them.
Telos Fitness Mission
My aim is to help you identify your Telos, your ultimate health and fitness goals. Then to identify the path to your Telos and help you navigate through any obstacles on your journey to those goals, without letting anything get in the way of achieving your Telos.
